Course Description:
As the leader of the world’s largest Christian denomination, the pope influences both politics and morality for a major swath of humanity. With Leo XIV’s appointment just a few months ago, this new pope can make changes or choose a new direction for the Catholic Church, and in so doing, impact much of the world. So, who is he? What is his background and what has he previously prioritized in his religious life? What impact will he or can he make on the world, and how much authority to make change does he actually have? What powers does the role of pope specifically give to him? This mini course will look at the man himself and also at his new role.
